Funded by the National Lottery LEAP set out to transform hidden local places and spaces for families with young children. The programme worked with eleven existing community facilities in Lambeth which included Loughborough Children's Centre. Design briefs were co-developed with local parents, community groups and early years practitioners. This approach resulted in a family of highly bespoke and diverse design interventions which respond to local needs. Key objectives across all projects were to create community infrastructure that is visible and welcoming, supports connectedness and healthy living and to invest in families with young children.
Loughborough’s smaller scope focused on improved visibility through the creation of a bright-red entrance and buggy store sculpture. The new community kitchen and health room also expand the range of services.
